HSE Officer – Matar Group

The HSE Officer is a pivotal role within organizations, particularly in Doha, Qatar, where health, safety, and environmental standards are paramount. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing health and safety policies to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. The HSE Officer will collaborate with various departments to promote safety awareness, conduct training sessions, and ensure compliance with local and international regulations. A strong emphasis will be placed on risk assessment and hazard identification, making this role essential for minimizing workplace incidents and fostering a culture of safety.

Candidates must possess relevant qualifications, including a NEBOSH certification, to effectively manage health and safety initiatives.



Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement comprehensive health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  2. Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  3. Provide training and guidance to employees on safety practices, emergency procedures, and compliance requirements.
  4. Monitor and ensure compliance with local and international health and safety regulations.
  5. Investigate accidents and incidents, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
  6. Coordinate with external agencies and stakeholders to maintain safety standards.
  7. Maintain accurate records of safety training, incidents, and compliance audits.
  8. Promote a culture of safety through awareness campaigns, workshops, and continuous education.
  9. Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans.
  10. Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of safety programs and initiatives, making necessary adjustments.

Preferred Candidate:

  1. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify safety issues effectively.
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse teams.
  3. Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to health and safety management.
  4. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  5. NEBOSH certification is a must for this role.
  6. Experience in conducting risk assessments and hazard identification processes.
  7. Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainable practices.
  8. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively under pressure.
  9. Strong leadership skills to influence and motivate others towards safety compliance.
