Postdoctoral position (Physiology and Biophysics) – Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar
Postdoctoral Position
In a pioneering international initiative, Cornell University and Weill Cornell Medical College established Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar (WCM-Q) in 2001 through a unique partnership with the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development.
WCM-Q seeks candidates for a postdoctoral associate position in Physiology and Biophysics.
The Bioinformatics Core at WCM-Q invites applications for a postdoctoral position to study the molecular and metabolic profiles associated with obesity subtypes within the Qatar Biobank and in comparative analysis with European cohorts. This research focuses on identifying unique biomarkers and underlying mechanisms of obesity and related cardiometabolic factors, incorporating advanced imaging and multi-omics data such as proteomics and metabolomics.
The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Shaza Zaghlool, the Lead Principal Investigator (PI) of this QRDI-funded project, focused on analyzing and interpreting a comprehensive range of biomedical data, including proteomics, metabolomics, and medical imaging from diverse populations. This research, aims to uncover molecular signatures of obesity subtypes to advance personalized treatment strategies within precision medicine. Each year of the appointment will be subject to evaluation, with continuation contingent upon satisfactory performance.
WCM-Q and Weill Cornell Medical College in New York share the same mission: to provide the finest education possible for medical students, conduct research at the cutting edge of knowledge, improve health care, both now and for future generations, and provide the highest quality of care to the community. Full details regarding the WCM-Q program and facilities, including affiliations with ACGME-I accredited clinical sites, can be accessed at our website.
