Manager – Creative Residency (Program Management, Community Engagement or Arts and Crafts sector) – Caravane Earth

JOB PURPOSE:

The Creative Residency unit is dedicated to preserving and promoting cultural heritage through community engagement, traditional art forms, and creative productions. As the Assistant Manager, you will support the planning, coordination, and execution of programs and initiatives that highlight local traditions, textile production, and traditional art and crafts. This role requires someone who is highly organized, passionate about cultural preservation, and skilled in building relationships with communities and stakeholders. You will play a key role in ensuring that the unit operates efficiently while maintaining its creative and cultural vision.

Community Engagement:

 Build and maintain strong relationships with artisans, craft communities, and cultural practitioners to ensure active participation in Creative Residency initiatives.

 Coordinate community-based programs and workshops, including palm weaving, sadu weaving, art and craft production, and traditional cloth stitching.

 Act as a liaison between the organization and local communities, building trust and mutual collaboration.

 Promote cultural exchange and collaboration through events and residencies that celebrate traditional practices.

Program Management:

 Planning, execution, and monitoring of residency programs, cultural workshops, and craft exhibitions.

 Oversee schedules, logistics, and resources for activities such as art and textile production, ensuring quality and timely delivery.

 Develop detailed project plans and track progress to meet program goals and deadlines.

 Ensure all programs align with the Creative Residency's vision of preserving cultural heritage while fostering creativity.

Art and Craft Production oversight

 Manage and support the production of traditional crafts and textiles, working closely with artisans to maintain the quality and authenticity of the work.

 Coordinate with designers and creators to develop innovative products inspired by traditional techniques.

 Work on pricing, sourcing materials, and overseeing inventory for craft production initiatives.

Event Coordination

 Organize cultural events, exhibitions, and showcases that promote traditional art forms and crafts to a wider audience.

 Collaborate with the marketing team to create campaigns that highlight the work of the Creative Residency and its partners.

 Manage logistics, budgets, and on-ground execution of events, ensuring they run smoothly and successfully.

Stakeholder and Partner relationships:

 Work closely with external stakeholders, including government bodies, NGOs, cultural organizations, and sponsors, to strengthen partnerships and gain support for the Creative Residency.

 Identify opportunities for collaboration with other creative professionals and cultural entities to expand the unit & reach.

 Represent the Creative Residency at industry events, conferences, and community gatherings.

Operational and Administrative Support:

 Financial management of the unit, including budget tracking, resource allocation, and procurement.

 Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation to share program outcomes and impact with senior management.

 Implement efficient workflows and systems to support the smooth functioning of the unit.

Innovation and Growth

 Contribute creative ideas for new programs, workshops, and community initiatives that align with the unit’s goals.

 Research emerging trends in cultural preservation, arts, and crafts to identify opportunities for innovation.

 Support efforts to diversify revenue streams through product sales, sponsorships, and grants
