Woodworking Engineer
The Woodworking Technician is responsible for carrying out skilled woodworking, carpentry, fabrication, assembly, repair, and finishing activities according to approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret technical drawings, sketches, work orders, and cutting lists.
- Measure, mark, cut, shape, drill, sand, and assemble wood and wood-based materials according to specifications.
- Operate woodworking machinery and equipment, including table saws, panel saws, band saws, routers, planers, sanders, drilling machines, and other workshop equipment.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively for woodworking and fabrication activities.
- Prepare and select appropriate materials based on job requirements, including plywood, MDF, solid wood, veneer, laminates, and other wood-based materials.
- Carry out accurate cutting and machining to achieve the required dimensions and tolerances.
- Assemble cabinets, furniture, wooden structures, fixtures, displays, and other fabricated items.
- Install hinges, handles, locks, slides, brackets, fittings, and other hardware as required.
- Perform edge banding, laminating, veneering, routing, sanding, and other finishing preparation activities.
- Conduct repair, modification, and maintenance work on wooden furniture, fixtures, and structures.
- Ensure proper alignment, fitting, finishing, and overall workmanship of completed products.
- Inspect materials and finished products for defects, damage, incorrect measurements, or poor workmanship.
- Rectify any defects or discrepancies identified during production or inspection.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workshop and work area.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of woodworking materials, tools, and equipment.
- Minimize material wastage by following approved cutting plans and using materials efficiently.
- Follow all company procedures, production schedules, quality requirements, and safety regulations.
- Report damaged tools, malfunctioning machinery, material shortages, or safety hazards to the supervisor.
- Coordinate with supervisors, designers, production personnel, and other technicians to ensure timely completion of assigned work.
- Complete assigned jobs within the required timeframe and productivity standards.
- Maintain proper care of company tools, machinery, and equipment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.
