Senior Project Accountant
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Accountant to support the financial management of major infrastructure and utilities projects in Qatar. The successful candidate will be responsible for contractor payment processing, project cost control, invoice verification, fixed asset accounting, and financial reporting while ensuring compliance with organizational policies, contractual requirements, and financial procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and verify contractor invoices to ensure compliance with contract terms and payment procedures.
- Prepare payment certificates and supporting documentation for approval and processing.
- Process contractor payments accurately and within established service level agreements (SLAs).
- Maintain and update payment trackers, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Evaluate interim payment claims, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and final accounts.
- Monitor project costs and ensure proper cost allocation in accordance with organizational costing policies.
- Review and maintain project costing models and cost classifications.
- Monitor outstanding and unbilled contract amounts, coordinating with contractors and internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies.
- Review fixed asset transactions, including asset capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and impairment, ensuring compliance with fixed asset policies.
- Prepare and review periodic financial, costing, and fixed asset reports for management.
- Communicate effectively with contractors and internal departments to resolve payment and financial issues.
- Ensure compliance with corporate financial procedures, contractual obligations, and internal controls.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within project accounting and financial reporting processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
- Degree obtained from North America, Western Europe, or Australia is preferred.
- Professional qualification such as RICS or another recognized accounting or finance certification is an advantage.
