Chief Accountant – Taxation – Alfardan Corporation

We are seeking a Chief Accountant – Taxation to take full ownership of tax accounting, regional tax compliance, and strategic tax integration across the group. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing tax calendar compliance without failure, managing local and international tax requirements, analyzing evolving tax regulations, and ensuring precise tax accounting within Autoline across all business units.  

Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Regional Filings

  • Ensure accuracy, timely review, and filing of Withholding Tax (WHT) returns, Contract reporting, Tax returns, and WHT/Corporate Tax payments to General Tax Authorities in Qatar and Oman.  
  • Oversee transfer pricing regulations to ensure full compliance for all inter-company transactions within the Group and sister companies.  
  • Analyze and interpret tax regulations, policies, and developments applicable to the company, evaluating the overall impact on the organization.  
  • Ensure tax credits, wherever applicable, are properly accounted for and utilized in accordance with local law.  
  • Prepare and maintain a robust tax calendar to ensure 100% compliance without failure.  

VAT Implementation & Accounting Integration

  • Lead the impact analysis and process design for VAT laws in Qatar, including system/software implementation and legal structure considerations.  
  • Ensure accuracy and timely reporting of VAT returns and related information to the Tax Authority.  
  • Ensure all tax and VAT accruals are accurately accounted for in Autoline (accounting software).  
  • Coordinate with Budget, MIS, and Procurement teams to ensure proper communication and accurate incorporation of tax/VAT amounts on Purchase Orders (POs).  
  • Ensure tax expenses are fully evaluated and integrated into periodical budgets.  

Stakeholder Advisory & Authority Representation

  • Respond directly to Tax Authorities regarding queries and supporting documentation required during tax assessments.  
  • Serve as an internal advisor, providing timely guidance and clear communication on tax matters to respective Business Units (BUs) and BU Chief Accountants.  
  • Coordinate with corporate tax consultants for expert interpretation, guidance, and legal applicability of tax laws.  
  • Partner with the Government Relations Department to ensure timely renewal and display of tax certificates and Tax Identification Numbers (TIN) across all locations.  
  • Systematically archive all key tax documentation (Payment challans, Tax Returns, WHT certificates, Annual Returns, and VAT filings).  

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Commerce, or a related field (Master’s in Accounting is a plus).  
  • Experience: 4-6 years of relevant experience in tax accounting, tax compliance, and financial management.
