1. Job Title & Location
Position: Senior Shift Technician – RLOC
Location: Ras Laffan, Qatar
Department: Maintenance
This person works in the maintenance department of a petrochemical plant and handles equipment maintenance during shifts, especially after office hours, night shifts, or holidays.
2. Main Purpose of the Job
The main role is to:
- Lead maintenance activities during shift time
- Ensure plant equipment runs reliably
- Act on behalf of engineers when they are not present
- Support plant operations and prevent equipment failures
- 3. Main Responsibilities
A. Equipment Maintenance
The technician must:
- Perform preventive maintenance (planned maintenance before breakdown).
- Identify faults in equipment and repair them quickly.
- Follow maintenance procedures and manufacturer manuals.
- Record all maintenance activities for equipment history tracking.
B. Repair of Major Plant Equipment
- Pumps
- Motors
- Compressors
- Turbines
- Fans and blowers
- Bearings and mechanical seals
maintain static equipment like:
- Heat exchangers
- Pressure vessels
- Columns
- Valves
- Boilers
- Furnaces
C. Electrical / Instrument Work
Depending on the technician’s background:
Electrical background
- Repair transformers
- Maintain switchgear
- Lighting systems
Instrument background
- Maintain transmitters
- Pressure regulators
- Control valves

D. Coordination With Other Departments
They must work with:
- Operations team
- Technical team
- Safety department
- Contractors
E. Safety Responsibilities
The technician must:
- Follow HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) rules
- Ensure safe work practices
- Promote Stop Work Authority (any worker can stop unsafe work).

4. Qualifications Required
Minimum Education
- Diploma in Engineering
Preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
Experience
- 7–10 years in petrochemical industry
- Oil & Gas experience preferred

5. Additional Skills Required
They should know:
- Safety inspection procedures
- Equipment maintenance standards
- Hydraulic systems
- Diesel / petrol handling
- Scaffolding basics
- Oil and coolant replacement
- Maintenance codes and standards
Software knowledge required:
- SAP (maintenance system)
- Microsoft Office
- AutoCAD (preferred)
