Technicians – EV & PHEV (BYD) – Mannai Trading Company

Overview / Job Purpose

We are looking for experienced EV & PHEV Technicians to join our BYD after-sales service team in Qatar. The role is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing BYD Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV/EV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV), including high-voltage, battery, electrical, electronic, charging, and hybrid powertrain systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair faults in BYD EV and PHEV vehicles using approved diagnostic equipment and software.
• Inspect, test, maintain, and repair high-voltage battery and electrical systems.
• Diagnose electric motors, inverters, onboard chargers, DC/DC converters, charging systems, and related components.
• Diagnose and repair PHEV systems, including internal combustion engines, hybrid transmissions, fuel systems, and electric powertrain components.
• Carry out battery health checks, electrical measurements, software updates, system programming, and calibrations.
• Read wiring diagrams, fault codes, and live vehicle data to identify electrical and electronic issues.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and mechanical repairs according to BYD manufacturer standards.
• Follow high-voltage isolation, lockout/tagout, PPE, and workshop safety procedures at all times.
• Complete job cards, diagnostic findings, repair records, and technical reports accurately.
• Maintain high standards of repair quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications & Experience

• Years of experience: Minimum 3 years of hands-on automotive technician experience, including practical experience with EV, Hybrid, or PHEV vehicles.
• Education: Diploma or Technical Certificate in Automotive Engineering, Automotive Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Industry exposure: Experience in an authorized automotive dealership or established service center is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of EV/PHEV high-voltage batteries, electric motors, power electronics, charging systems, and hybrid powertrains.
• Practical knowledge of petrol engines and related mechanical systems used in PHEV vehicles.
• Ability to use diagnostic scanners, digital multimeters, insulation testers, and automotive electrical testing equipment.
• Good understanding of CAN communication, wiring diagrams, fault codes, and electrical troubleshooting.
• EV/Hybrid High-Voltage Safety certification or manufacturer EV/PHEV technical training is preferred. Previous BYD EV/PHEV experience is an advantage.
